Welcome to the Hoya Forum Lourdes

Great Falls, MT(Zone 4a)

Hi Lourdes, glad to see you at the hoya forum. I am sure that at one time all of us only had about 5 or so hoyas. Don't worry, if you are as normal as the rest of us, you will be addicted in no time, will shortly have many more.

Like you, I would guess that most here don't have budgets to keep up with their addictions........Honestly, isn't that how addictions work? HA!

Cheers,
Sara

Hi Dmichael

I couldn’t believe it. We have a baby that looks just like yours. His name is Fedor (Not my choice) As far as being addicted, well if I’m not there yet, I can assure you that I’m in the right path. LOL

Addiction or obsession or both???? You decide!!!!!

3 gh's containing 250 + cactus plants ----180 +/- one or two hoyas and around 100 or so tropicals and no end in sight!!!!!!

Karen I think my plants and xanax are probably the only 2 things are keeping me feeling well right now with all that i've dealt with the past few months with family health issues.

Fedor please meet Gizmo!!!

Nice to meet you Gizmo!
Besides my addiction to animals, now I’m to plants. Fedor was rescued at two weeks old from a ditch.

Gizmo was rescued at 8 weeks from someone who was too lazy and cheap to have their cat spayed but kept allowing her to get pregnant and keep complaining about it. We had a vet here that would only charge $20 to spay a female and these people were to cheap to pay that yet they palyed powerball everyday.

I've had him a little over 2 years now

I know people have no respect for animals. That is something that really hurts me. We caught the mother and two sisters a couple of days later. Spayed the mom and kept her name is Sophie, took us three months to get her used to us and the dogs. The sisters were adopted by people from the vet clinic my son worked at the time. Now they live a happy life. I want to think that. Fedor is one year old and Sophie about two.

I am doing fine. Thank you. We are big animal lovers too. It's like zoo here.

Lourdes it's sound like your hooked, and it to late to go back now. You are officially a hoyanut. LOL At least you are in good company. The people here will have you drooling over their blooming beauties. Everywhere you go you will be searching for more of them. Have fun and enjoy the forum.

I know Patti, now my sons keep telling me that I’m an addict. Oh well, I told everybody that for Christmas, b-day , anniversary, etc, I want HOYAS or DISCHIDIAS!!!
Funny because we also have a zoo here dogs, cats, birds and fish -- good thing my oldest one starts Vet school in two weeks.
Take care and we’ll be in touch.

Hi Spookie, Sawyer & Liza,
Very nice to meet you and so glad to hear to are so lucky and have great families.
Thank you so much everyone for welcoming me to the forum, I feel like I know a little bit of each of you through the postings.
Ok, I’d like you all to meet Pecas (freckles in Spanish) adopted form the humane society and Oreo, also rescued. He was adopted from the vet clinic my son used to work in. He is so gentle and gets along with everyone.
I’ll try to find more pics of the other doggies.
Take care

I love seeing pictures of everyone's cats. Here is the real Sofi. I found him abandoned on a county road and carried him home 4 miles in a baseball cap. Everyone makes fun of his moustache and "girly" name but he has a sense of humor. Only eats h bella for some reason.

Hello all you cats and dogs.....what beauties!!

Karen, I had no clue that you had a chocolate lab....too bad Sawyer is spayed, because her and Cherokee would make the cutest chocolate babies!!

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

They are adorable. What can I say I just love animals.

Central, LA(Zone 8b)

Karen Gizmo looks like he's ready to pop!!! I just love fat kitties.

Welcome Lourdes :) Such cute pets everyone! I just have my one cat now, but she's a handful! Her name is Ariel.

Gabi - I LOVE chocolate labs! Cherokee is neutered, too, but it is too bad - they would have made cute babies! We rescued him about 2 years ago - so I never saw him as a baby - but I love him none the less!

Jeri - Gizmo IS ready to pop - LOL! I guess it helps her keep the dogs in line!

Karen

Bath, ME(Zone 5b)

All your babies are beautiful! I have a pug that just turned 10 on the 26th, and a nice young male black cat that decided that he was going to live with us. He had been neutered. We named him Trouble. (I love to tell the neighbors that my husband is out looking for "Trouble".) I'll send some pics later as I am at work right now. Take care everyone.

Martha

Central, LA(Zone 8b)

Martha that is a good one!!! LOL!!!! DH out looking for "Trouble" Aren't you the calm one!!! Still LOL!!!!

That is funny Martha. Hope we can see "Trouble" pics. ..
Thank you everyone.

Welcome Lourdes! You'll learn a lot from this bunch, especially how to become addicted to our favourite plant.

Lily welcomes you too.

Lupin, of course, is jealous that Lily got to welcome you first, but her heart's in the right place.

Thank you Christine, Lupin and Lily for welcoming me.
You are right Christine, I’m learning a bunch and I like the people a lot.
As for becoming an addict, well -- too late I think I’m getting worse by the minute and enjoying every bit of it.
Take care,
Lourdes =).

Wow, what a gorgeous bunch of animals we have here... Of course Liza, my "sugargirl," is the prettiest in my humble opinion....

Here is my other baby, Max, and he is the boss of the kitty in my household, he climbs down off of the cage and chases her around on the floor....and she runs! Come to think of it, he is the boss of me too. Typical to amazons, they bond to only one person, meaning he loves me and bites all others. Another adoption, given to me by someone who just didn't want him anymore.
