July Bingo and chat #3
Tonight's call is:
14 Diastema vexans......the hairy leaves and speckled flowers caught my eye..
http://www.gesneriads.ca/diaste12.htm
Drat!!!! Not one I need..but..Lin needed it on her card so she only needs 4 more now : ))
Someone has to Bingo soon. The suspense is killing me! LOL
Just a few more & I will be a happy camper...lol
I still need 3
Now can you please try harder to see my list. I have been holding at 11 for a couple calls.
Is there any chance of another call for today?
I need more calls and the right ones please.
Yeah, I'm just waiting for that right one so I can yell bingo!
allgr8dogs you can if I can. :)
Hey cool!! I had that one. Not that it helps me much...lol ; )
Ha! I see someone else is up as late as me!
Yeah, just checking in case there is a late night call...
ooooohhhh, the suspense!
I hope y'all get some sleep. LOL
We've had thunderstorms seem to blow up and then vanish with hardly a teasing drop of rain lately... but tonight we had a real gullywasher! It stopped for a bit, but now there's a nice, steady rainfall... hopefully some of this will soak in... I think a lot of rain that first hour just rolled right off the hard dry ground!
Is everyone still awake?
Love the deep boom of thunderstorms!! ; ) Glad you're getting some rain out East!
We had almost continuous air-to-ground and cloud-to-cloud lightning strikes for about an hour, while the rain came bucketing down... it was impressive! I'm not sure I want to see the state of the garden in the morning light, although I know the plants needed the rain.
Many, many, many moons ago when I was stationed at Fort Meade I used to love driving home in the rain as long as it was daylight. Maryland is such a beautiful state.
Maryland really is beautiful...only been there once, though.
Well, I don't think I'd care for the continuous lightning...that just might make me nervous. lol Might want to stand back from the window there, critter. Oh, and unplug your 'puter. lol
It really was continuous... not a second went by without a lightning flash somewhere in the sky, and at times it looked like a firework display. The electric flickered a couple of times, but we didn't lose power for longer than it took the clocks to start flashing.
My rain gauge fell over, so I'm not sure how much we've had.... I'd guess at least an inch, maybe closer to two. :-) It's still raining intermittently, so we're really getting a nice soaking. Crazy weather. I hope floods aren't the next thing!
Hope everybody is having a peaceful Sunday morning.
Sunday morning here in the Idaho mountains is very very smoky. We have fires going all around the area and you would think it was about to rain the skies are so gray and dark, but it's just smoke. The smell has filled my house and no matter how many houseplants I have they can't keep the air clean when it gets like this. I'm hoping for rain to help with the fires and to clean the air, if not, just a wind shift to aim the smoke another way....
~Brenda
Praying you get rain to get those fires under control. I'm wondering if you should be wearing a mask, or if an air filter running in the room would help....
Thanks Critter. We'd left the windows all open last night (hot here for us) and the smoke was able to sneak in during the night, I can usually tell when the wind has shifted it our way and I get the house closed up in time to minimize it. I've shut the house up now and I'm hoping the fans will at least blow the smell all upstairs where we don't have to be! I'm sure there are advisories out for ones with any kind of breathing problems to be very careful if they have to go out.
~Brenda
We're getting advisaries here for anyone with breathing problems but here its from pollution. It seems like the fire situation in the West and Southwest has been extreme and probably will be for a while yet. The forest service here says that the rainfall has been so low for so long that the soil is pulling moisture out of our trees - some of them have a lower core moisture content than cut lumber. There are big swaths of forest in some areas that are dying and just ripe to fuel a fire.

Hi everyone. I'm still fairly new to the AV forum and to DG. I noticed the Bingo thread and thought it looked like a lot of fun. I especially like the part where you can follow the links to learn about the plant. I'm just discovering how easy it is to fall in love with Gesneriads. ;o) Anyway, is this a game anyone can participate in? Thanks! Melissa
Melissa,
Anyone can play - just keep an eye out for the new game after this one. We have a lot of fun. I've been doing more looking than posting lately, but hopefully my business issues will be improving soon.
Sharon
I don't have that one either. :O(
awesome pictures with the calls...............those chiritas are a 'to die for' plants

Starting my second week off with nothing on my card again, whizzed right up to 11 and then zip! Fun anyway and great pictures to drool over :)))
