CLOSED: Slimy, white worm found in the ground, what is it?

Does this cause any harm to the young and soft roots of plants? What is this worm? It is found in good numbers in my garden aside from the earthworms. Or is it beneficial to the soil like the earthworm?

We call them grubs in Iowa. Grubs will mature into beetles. Thanks Brugie. Another new thing learnt today! Did not know that they become beetles. I think I posted a pic of the beetle in another thread. Will find out.
