Plant Files photo edit / delete

West Pottsgrove, PA(Zone 6b)

Help, please

I have doubts about one of my picture's ID, and I tried to delete it and substitute a picture I know is right, but when I click on "Go here to delete this image", I get bounced to the home page, and the picture remains.

Thanks

Claypa you can't delete a picture in PF. If you send an error report from the photo we will be glad to do it for you.

Hi claypa, can you give me a link to the photo you want removed? I'd be happy to remove it for you, and you can upload the correct photo.

For future reference, if you click on the report an error button in the plantfile entry you can report it directly to the helpdesk. If you have the photo you want removed enlarged when you click on "Report an Error", a link to the photo is sent to the helpdesk also, so you don't have to copy/paste it in your error report. Just ask us to remove your photo.

You can send the link this way with this one if you want. :)

Take a look at a picture you've submitted, and click on edit, and it says

"Alternatively, you may simply delete this image altogether, in the case of duplicates or what-not. Go here to delete this image!"

I figured mine was a 'what-not' - haha but I guess the delete is just for comments though? Anyway, I'm just not sure about that picture anymore... the more I look at it, the more I think it's just the tallest Buttonwood there, not a Sour Gum.
Thank you!

Thank you claypa, I deleted the photo for you. I'm not sure you should get that message. I will let Dave know and see if it's a bug.

I think there may be some bugs going on where we have more powers than we should--I noticed a week or two ago that when I was in a Plant Files entry that someone else created, I could see the link to "set all details", and when I clicked it out of curiosity, it showed me all the categories, even the ones where the person who made the entry had already checked things off. Since normally you can only change things in categories where the original person didn't check anything, I thought that was strange and I posted about it on a Plant Files related thread that was going on at the time on the DG forum, but now that I think about it I don't think anyone responded to that post.

Thank you Liz, I did let Dave know so we will see what he finds out.

I think the 'set all details' has worked as Liz is saying for months - I've expanded a pH tolerance or zone hardiness a couple times. Maybe that's okay? I remember reading a thread where people wished they could change details because the person who had set them wasn't active or available anymore. Interesting.

I first noticed the change after Dave had done some re-programming in Plant Files, it was when he added in the spot where the person's name who created the entry gets listed, and he changed a few other things around as well, so I figured this happened around the same time (maybe I just didn't notice it before though). Since I saw it around the time he was doing all that other programming, I wasn't sure if it was changed to be that way on purpose, or if it was an accidental oversight in the course of doing all the other programming. I think it would be nice to be able to change details that other people entered since a lot of times things aren't quite right, but I wasn't sure Dave wanted to give that power to all of us--it's a good thing to have if the person doing the editing knows more than the person who made the entry, but if it's the other way around it might not be so great!
