That's an Ailanthus Tree Moth - bad bug
Thanks for IDing it for me
It's too bad they're so pretty.
'Howdy' IRIS ..
These guys are usually considered only minor pests when in their larval form (caterpillar) - especially in plant nurseries. It's reported that they rarely do any serious damage tho' .. Ailanthus Webworm Moth (Atteva punctella) > http://davesgarden.com/bf/go/908/
We have a tendency to forget that these guys serve as valuable pollinators also - while in their moth form!
It's nice when folks are willing to allow the moths to nectar upon the flowers (which is generally what they're doing this time of year, in the south).
