Morning Glories in a balcony garden

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Hi... I am usually a lurker to your forum (you all have stunning MGs BTW).

I live in the city and garden indoors and on an 8x12 balcony. I tried MGs for the first time this year. They seem to be happy and doing well. It's a mix of 'Picotee Blue', 'Picotee Red', 'Flying Saucer', and Moonflower... I was going for a red, white, and blue theme.

Don't know what's going to bloom first, but I have lots of buds!

And one more a little closer in...

I'll post photos of the blooms when they arrive. Thanks for letting me share. Have a good evening.

Great idea! Can't wait to see the blooms.

The vines look great on your trellis! And tons of buds! Cool. Looking forward to seeing them in bloom!

Karen,

Great idea for an apartment balcony. Just a quick question. Is that trellis just on your balcony or is that the "fence" so to speak surrounding the balcony? Either way it looks great and you are going to so enjoy them when they bloom.

Your MGs look great. Looking forward to the flower pics. I love 'flying saucer'!

Like Leslie, I'm fascinated by your trellis! Would love to some details about it, it looks like an arbor top hanging ove the side of a building, very cool.

Thank you all! I thought I might get some comments on the "trellis". That was my largest "on-a-whim-I-simply-have-to-have-it!" purchase this year. LOL! It is actually the top part of the cutest little garden cart you have ever seen! When I first plant the seeds for the MGs, I thought they would look so pretty climbing through the top of it.

I am at work now, but I will take some more photos this evening, and post them to show you the entire cart.

Thanks for looking and letting me share, and thanks for your comments.

Here are two more photos of my garden cart... as promised.

Showing the planter with MGs, and how they are climbing in to the top...

(Maybe tomorrow morning I'll have a couple blooms!)

Thanks! Me too! Got it at Lowe's... they were gone before you know it!

Great little garden, the cart is simply charming. Wish I'd have seen one at my Lowe's. Maybe next year. I have a balcony too. It could use a new look.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

That's really cool! Looks really special. I don't even think we have Lowe's up here. LOL....

I have a couple of moonflowers open tonight, also. I wouldn't have noticed, but I smelled something good when I let the cat out.

Love the moonflowers. : )
