Bec: I'm confused -- when did you use cocunut cream, and when did you use cocunut juice. And that daiquiri recipe you promised??? Those were a life saver!
Sept. 8 Plant Swap: Organization and Logistics
There were empty cans of both Cream of Coconut and Coconut Milk... so I think she used both, as well as a generous handful of frozen fresh grated coconut (from Harris Teeter; I'm not sure our local grocer carries it).
Ah - used both :-) I make drinks like I follow a recipe - whatever tastes good :~)
Daiquiri - 2 cc rum, ice, dash of lime juice, splash of sweet n sour, grenadine to taste and fresh/frozen fruits -
Sally, Jill's right, I did a little tidying but she had the major clean-up. We started chatting again, and it was late before I realized I hadn't even packed up my stuff yet. Rick thought all of you were great too! I'm glad he got the chance to meet everyone. And to everyone who couldn't make it, we missed you!
WWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH
There was some extra strawberry daquiri mix that never made it back into the blender (still had whole berries)... I added a frozen banana and a splash of cream last night and whirrrrred it up... delicious!
Wrightie, just take good care of yourself and don't overdo so you can make it to the next event! I think we need to have lots of local gatherings... :-)
Do you know, I've never been to Lilypons, and I hear their grounds are just wonderful for hiking around... maybe that would be a good fall destination? Or maybe we need to meet up at some sort of pumpkin festival before Halloween? I'm sure there are lots of possibilities! For that matter, Gita and I had a great time visiting while wandering around Ikea...
"Plants? What plants??"
;-)
Weren't you the one that said that there's an apple cider place (UNpasteurized) in/around Silver Spring? I'm still planning on checking that out.
Oh, yes indeed... We go down every fall to Heyser Farms for cider and 'Spencerville Red' apples. Even with our own trees giving us a "real" crop this year, we may still have to go there!
I'm a bit at loose ends for the next couple of weekends, since Jim (rather suddenly) is headed to Kazakhstan... So I'm sure I'll come up with some sort of expedition, and hopefully somebody will be interested in joining me!
Could be a while yet before I'm ready for a field trip.... foot is still very ouchie and I cannot stand up for long without pain, but I do look forward to apple season.
Anyone here growing currants? I am wondering if/how American varieties might differ from those in the UK. Gotta get my paws on some...
Oooooo...Ikea gets in some suprising plants every now and then...like em!!!
Field trips? Did someone mention field trips....oh goodie!!! THAT I would love esp. if it was good photo opp places!!!
Ya know ................... There's an IKEA in College Park .... lol
Well, you know you and Becky were already talking about going back to the antique place in Lucketts to get those trellises... http://www.luckettstore.com/our_store.htm
Lilypons wouldn't be much beyond that... See these directions from the Lilpond site... http://www.lilypons.com/visitusmain/leesburg.htm
So, when are we going? :-)
Wrightie, you and Gita are going to have to duke that one out... whose Ikea is better? Which one will we meet up at? LOL
Hmmm....oh Beeeeckkkkyyyy? She's working...unlike me...obviously...LOL
Hey hey - yes, I have been working - also played hooky and disappeared for a while - I am game for any road trip to anywhere - lemme know time and place and I'll be there - right now I am still working - proofreading 15 000 words of medical instrument user manuals - yey - and listening to the rain pouring outside - double yey - with any luck it'll cool down here in the not so distant future so I can get some gardening done - my excuse for not weeding is - it's toooooo hot!
