This is the first time I've grown Casa Blanca. I lost all the bulbs I planted last winter to devastating weather. I planted this in March or April, and it's the only one I planted. Two of the six bulbs are stunted, two have only one bud, and the other two have 3 and 4 buds. I'm happy with what I got, and plan on planting more of these beauties next year.
At last! A Bloom
That is a lovely bloom. :)
Revclaus, that's very pretty! Interesting to read that you lost lily bulbs to devastating weather. I lost several of my beautiful oriental lilies over the winter. I had always experienced great success with lilies. I have occasionally noticed "stunting" with spring-planted lilies. Hopefully next year will be better for all of us. I'm enjoying the ones that survived, and I, too, will be planting more of them this fall.
Good for you, rev, and isn't Casablanca just a treasure?
A closer look
Very nice pennefeather. :)
So that's what I have to look forward to! They're lovely, especially with the red fountain grass.
Those are lovely.
I can see I will need to replace my Casa Blanca. Lovely pictures of a very lovely lily.
Heck, I didn't even notice the Red Fountain grass. I was so busy looking at the blooms! ;) LOL But the RFG does go well with the Cassablancas! :)
I had this beauty once and it seems to have disappeared over the years. I can see I need to get more. Great pictures!
You might want to check out the Oriental Lily Siberia. It too, is a stunner. :)
I highly recommend Siberia also. It's form is different from Casa Blanca. The blooms are closer to the stalk and once established, it is double budded (and maybe triple? I don't remember). This makes for a much longer period of bloom. Here it is on buggy's website:

Yup, Siberia is a beauty too!
