Blurry photo of ???

That makes me so mad to hear that someone would shoot the mother owl! Or even to harm snakes. Snakes are beneficial- even the dangerous ones. Grrr!
Wow terry, I wish someone would let me landscape their 5 acres- on their dime, of course!
Thanks for the compliment flygirl. Now, if only I could get a good picture of the hummingbirds. They are really liking the Lantana, but as soon as I find them in the frame - off they go!

I have no idea on why he killed the momma Screech Owl. Stupidity? People don't bother with learning good vs bad. Since the owl nesting was up in Tony's backyard, I can't even begin to imagine what the guy was thinking. I told Tony to report the guy, that was a protected bird, you can't just go around willy nilly killing native birds. I don't know snakes, I've never really ran across one while gardening or even while clearing my parents timber. I sure wouldn't kill it though.

Because we have a front sidewalk and the grass in front of it is considered the cities, even though we have to mow it and I can't plant anything in that area, that grass will have to stay. My plan is to add stepping stones, brick, whatever I can find to get rid of the grass that still exists. I'm sure my dog would appreciate some, but then again, she doesn't mind going in my mushroom compost! She's little, so that's not that bad. I have 5 shrubs waiting to be planted. When I get those in...should be tomorrow, the next overcast day I'd like to take some pictures of what it looks like now, compared to what it was when we moved here.

Sandy, that's what I told my friend. He pays for materials, and I'll do the rest. He doesn't need to pay me. I'm not interested in that really, I just love doing it. We'll see if he actually comes thru though and wants me to do it.

Oh gosh, I forgot. My husband could really care less about grass. I won't use herbicides, so weeds abound galore...lol. My parents have a total of 16 acres, almost 3 of it being for the house and their great expanse of lawn. They have trees and other plantings, but it isn't anything near what it would be if my dad gave me cart blanche. I don't think my mom would care too much, but my dad loves his grass. He thinks it looks "park like". I don't know about you guys, but around here, with the exception of the little park behind and caddy corner from me, the parks are all wooded and not much grass to speak of. Now golf course, yes. He does want to lose some of the grass and he's letting me plant what I want, but to me, it's just not enough. And of course I'm into indigenous plants, so the majority of his plants do nothing for me. I've told him for the last 3 yrs I'm taking out that dumb Euonymus alata (burning bush). I'm already clearing out Rosa multiflora (multiflora rose), and Lonicera tatarica (tartarian honeysuckle), so the last thing I need to encounter and have to start in on is the Euonymus.

So anyway...lol.....Bucky was here earlier. I about fell over laughing at him or her and what s/he was doing. Here's the latest photo of him/her.....

LOL, Terry! What a funny photo! He looks like my dog when he's laying on the floor trying to keep cool. Which is rare because we run the A/C pretty much year round! LOL!

That's what I thought to, he looks just like Zoey does, no matter if the AC is on! S/he was watching me thru the storm door, and just kept on posing for me.

Haha, Rocky does that too....I think he's saying......'I'm going to just faint away if I don't get some peanuts quick!'

Please show pics!

I can't believe that guy killed the owl in someone else's yard! That takes big kahunas! I would be outraged!

S/he was eating a peanut right before s/he laid down on the table. Bucky is the only one that does this, none of the others do. S/he does the same thing in the Ash tree in the side yard. Just sprawls all out like that.

fly-girl, I think we may have twins! Too funny! The owl had left the nest, I'm assuming to find food for the babies and the guy took advantage of the situation and shot it.

When I get the newest photos, I will indeed show pictures. You have to use your imagination though and imagine the plants at their full size. The squirrels (I'm sure not Bucky though!) like to dig up my plants and chew some of them to nothing, so I have cages around the ones they bother. So you can't pay any attention to them either ;o)
