Probably not. But just leave it for now and see what happens.

I read that they do that when they want to soften the chrysalis before they emerge. However, it seemed too soon. It has stopped doing it for now.
Sybil....You're right about Swallowtails seeming to prefer Curly Parsley over Italian Flat. When I first picked up parsley to try and accomodate their food needs, I bought a few plants of each, and the Italian Flat variety went untouched while the Curly Parsley was swarming with happy, fat cats. Talk about appetites! Just make sure you have lots of the "curly" on hand. You'll be rewarded over and over again, and this takes so little effort.

Thanks roisemaire, I plan to plant a bed of curly parsley next year.
Time has passed and I have two chrysalis'. One seems ready to break free. Twice in three days I have noticed the think banging back and forth against the stick it is attached to. Is this normal? Is it stuck? Is there anything I can or should do to help?
