What is this Berry Plant?

You are a Y in X clothing ;)

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Just taking my frustrations out on the poor state of TN at that time ;D

But gosh that was really fun!! Got any burning you need done?? I'll show you how to do it....hehehehehe..............

Why yes, I do happen to have some burning that needs to be done.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Ohohoh!!! Gas too??

I got better than that baby. How about an acetylene torch?

Feel the power!

If that makes you nervous, I've got a wussie Weed Dragon connected to a propane tank that you can wheel around like a little fire fairy. Or should I say pyro fairy.

Seriously, I've got about 15 piles that are at least 10' high in need of being torched and that last Bradford Pear finally came down. Feel free to get your fire fix at my house.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

No no, I don't do acetylene or propane, only gas. I know gas and how it's going to act. Did I ever tell you 'bout the time I was putting oil in a lady's car and the spout dripped oil onto the hotter than hot manifold? Fire baby...lol. Only burns the oil though, nothing else. Same with gas. Spill some gas and set it on fire. Only the gas is going to burn....unless you're putting it on carpet or dried out wood.....I'm talking 'bout when you spill some on the concrete, then throw a match down and watch it burn. Burn baby burn....lol. My Uncle Don used to do that for fun. Cracks me up just thinking about it....lol....

Tell me when. Make it a Saturday or something and we all can come and burn baby burn!! I can't believe Carlita let you cut down his precious Bradford pears!

My husband finally let the Bradford Pear go. He didn't even shed a tear. I was so proud of him. I've got a Kentucky Coffeetree there ready to take over. It should take off in about 2 years. I'll stick Halesia over to the north of where that Calleryana was.

OK, you can use gas. I don't care. I'm easy and I've got to get these piles down.

edited to correct something.

Oh that should look nice and give him much better shade than the pear ever did.

Just tell me when.

Oh oh oh! You'll get to see the stepping stones if you come! Tomorrow is another big stepping stone day!

I would think it would be best to burn after the weather cools down a bit if you're seriously in need of a fire fix. It's going to be in the 80's this weekend and I wasn't kidding about the piles of brush and buckthorn I've got scattered every where there's space to stack. Personally, if you're driving over 3 hours to come and play, I'd prefer to do something fun for the whole day topped off with going out to eat dinner some where. Just a thought.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Mrs E, being that Mr R, daughter and I, will be in the car for 6 hours total, driving to and from, I will speak for Mr R and say that we like hanging out at home. Nothing fancy needed for us. Cooler weather is perfect....and doesn't somebody owe us some burgers off the grill?

I will simply have to think of something even if it is only a drive over to Richmond to have a peek at what some of those antique shops are offering. You'd like Richmond.

I'll let him know about grilling. First thing out of his mouth is probably going to be that his tree is gone so now his bald spot is going to get sun burned.

I know this sounds weird but I am really excited somebody is coming to see my stepping stones.

We will be gone Oct 17 - 21st and the last weeked of the month we have some sort of a big Halloween bash that we go to every year at a friend's farm. Other than that, all is good.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Ohohoh, I love antiques. Good idea.

Tell him that my hubby will stand beside him and burn his bald spot too. Or, I can always bring my pink Theodosia Marina hat for him to wear.

So you'll be gone the last 2 week-ends of the month? November good for you?

Yaa, I love antiques too. Unfortunately I have a plant habit to feed so I can't afford them these days.

November is about the same as October. We're gone two week ends in that month. I'll pm you with details.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Depends on the antique on whether or not I want it. I can not buy a few plants to afford an a must have antique.

November is better than Oct. Oh, today's Mr R's birthday.

Tee he, I need to save my money to buy more Pokeweed! And, then I'd like some more Skunk Cabbage and Carrion Flower! I have discriminating tastes!

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

I had a pokeberry show up on the side of our house. What's weird about mine, is that being it's on the north back side of the house, which faces west, the sun usually hits it later in the day. So it's flopped big time. If I knew what to do to give you seed or whatever, or if you know what I should do, just tell me and I'll share. I like to share ♥

Adrian, MO(Zone 6a)

terryr this year it is in one bad spot. Next year it will be everywhere. Usually it grows in tight or crowded conditions. Next to a bldg., under trees in a hedge, intertwined with the grape vines. Definitely likes company.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Thanks Len, but we have a really small property. I did remove some from about 4 other places earlier in the year. I'm not too worried about it taking over. I think, if given the choice, I'd much rather "battle" a native plant, than to battle those wild morning glory vines that really do take over ☺ Oh, and let's not forget we had an Ailanthus removed last year, so of course, I still have seeds from that which germinate. And behind us in the church lot, is another female Ailanthus, the male is a couple doors down, the other direction ☻ On the good side, I noticed today that one of my (I believe is the species) Aster divaricatus must of seeded over at the neighbors house. It's very pretty over there...lol.

Somebody learned how to spice up their posts with ♥ and ☺. What fun!

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

I did! Isn't that cool??!!! ♥ ☺ ♫ §

Hey, Cubs score!!! Cubs score!!! Soto hit a 2 run home-run!!! WoooHooo!!!

O.k. that's not what I was going to say...lol. I don't know where to show this at. Tony was here today digging fence posts holes. He's got this cool gas fence post digger. Anyway, he's digging, and barely gets down into the earth, maybe 8" and he hits something hard. So he grabs my spade, and starts digging around. Imagine both of our surprise when he dug up the below! How cool is that? The neighbor is going to look into who or where it's supposed to be. The L is where Tony hit it with his digger.

That is an AWESOME find! Way to go!

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

You should of been here...lol....Tony and I thought it looked a lot like some of the headstones out at Oak Lawn Cemetery because it's marble. We were scared it was going to be a headstone. Especially when we saw letters. We were talking so quietly and just digging, brushing, digging some more, brushing more.....and finally we saw SCHOOL. Whew! I'm not sure what to do. I feel weird keeping it. I hope my neighbor, a teacher, can figure out where it's supposed to go. I think it should go back to it's rightful owner, don't you? Oh, this thing isn't little. It's a pretty good size and man is it heavy. I'm always finding something whenever I dig. Usually bricks. Sometimes marbles. Old marbles too, not the newer kind. Old, like in 50 or better years, I had them checked out. Pieces of pottery. I found a couple of old bottles. One is an ink bottle. A fancy Victorian bird feeder that you shoved between the wires on a cage. A big chunk of concrete that I was told was for the ladies to step on to get up into the buggy. It's always something when we dig...lol.

You lucky duck. I collect marbles and I've never ever found even one. My favorites are onionskin lutzes.

Is there a historical society for Bureau County? Maybe if you give them a photo of the marker somebody might recognize it from an old donated photo.

I doubt seriously if the one room school house that probably belonged to is even around any longer. Look at the style of pring on that baby! I'd keep it and give it a prominent place in your garden.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

At first I thought the marbles were from the last renter the PO had in here. Their kids. But then I had somebody look at them, and nope, not from them.

Yes, the Historical Society is just downtown and around the corner. If it did come from the 1 room school house that I know of? It's pretty ironic....it used to sit where one of my family's business' is. I believe, but am not sure, that it might be the one out at the Owen Lovejoy Homestead. If the Historical Society sees the picture, I'm sure they'll want me to donate it to them. How do I say no?

Don't feel bad. I'd donate it to them too if they asked for it. What else would we do with something like that... sell it on eBay to some person half way across the US who lives in a renovated one room school house? It would be best for it to go to the historical society or stay put in your yard where it was found.

Keep rubbing in the marbles!

Northern, NJ(Zone 6b)

I have marbles too, Equil. The school behind me sold off the land my house stands on . Also found a small ceramic chicken and lots of pieces of shells.
Great find terry!

Another one rubbing in the marble they're finding in their yards. All I find is barbed wire!

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

Hey TeriR;
I am personal going to volunteer your services and blowtorch to help me and Lib to burn all those piles...I was over there today and OMG!!! there had to have been atleast 8 or more piles that were atleast 8-10 ft high and about 6 or more wide...
made me feel like a needle in a buckthorn stack:)

You missed a few G4B. There were two piles way out front, four piles in the back yard, one big mammoth pile that we measured at over 25' long by about 15' wide that is at about 12' high in the side yard, and 5 biggies scattered throughout the woods. That would have been a total of 12 this morning. As of this evening, you can add two more mammoth piles way out back because there were three people here chain sawing all day. We'd like to have 2 more mammoth piles by the end of the weekend.

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

If we don't get Terrir and the blowtorch over soon you're not going to have a yard:))

terryr is one of those people who really likes to send sparks flying... she's into gas not blow torches.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

What's a blow torch gonna do? Just douse the stuff in gas, light the match and watch it burn baby burn. What? Flame getting low? Just throw more gas onto it...mmmwwhahahahahaha

How far apart are you putting these piles? We're not going to keep feeding just a couple? We'll be running across 5 acres watching different piles burn? Dang girl. Get yer hubby to get me one of them swanky 4-wheelers. Either that or leave the keys in his car. Either car will do. I'm not that picky ♥

As you can see G4B, we have a not-so-closet pyro fairy on our hands.

Terry- We just happen to have a few quads. What color would you like to ride around on while you sprinkle gasoline here there and everywhere?

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Ohhhhhhhhhhh...............I don't care what color! Got pink? That way, it'll match my tutu! (I think I've got that somewhere..hmmm....)

Fresh out of pink, really sorry about that. How about mud caked fire engine red, mud caked cardinal red, mud caked army green, or mud caked electric blue? I'll hose down the seat for you cuz your speshul.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Mud electric blue would look best with my pink tutu. You could though, go buy a can of spray paint and paint it pink?? Because I am speshul as you pointed out. Think your manly men would have a problem with that? Just remind them I'm the good one ☺

Oh Terry, I just had another friend over here today surveying piles and then I let them read this thread and I think they about bust a gut over the image of a pyro fairy in a pink tutu on a mud caked quad getting up enough momentum to get airborne to be able to sprinkle gas on the tops of these buckthorn piles.

That's pretty funny; we actually do try to differentiate between all the Terrys by referring to everyone as the good the bad the ugly the relative and the neighbor. I'm surprised you remembered that. Can you remember why the one who isn't bad is referred to as bad Terry and the one who isn't ugly is referred to as the ugly Terry? The relative Terry and the neighbor Terry are easy to figure out. Let's see how good your memory is. If you can answer the question, we'll get you a rhinestone studded tiara to go with that pink tutu.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

The bad one is referred to as bad because she called at 3 or 4 AM. The ugly Terry who isn't ugly would be a friend of yours, also known to everybody else as terryr. I'm the good Terry and the not ugly Terry. Make those pink rhinestones please☺

Ouch, you do have a good memory. You even remembered there were two Terrys with a last name starting with R. Ok, I'll try for the tiara with pink rhinestones if at all possible so you can pick it apart for that special project.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Yes, and sometimes there's a Terry that gets e-mail meant for me...ooops!!!

Why would I pick apart my tiara?
