I need to plant a new evergreen shrub (Box Elder, I think). The label says it will spread three feet, and to plant three feet apart. Does this mean it will spread three feet from the trunk for a total diameter of 6 feet, or only spread a total of three feet. I'm planting this in a smallish space, so I want to make sure it will fit. Thank you!
