CLOSED: Good or Bad? About 1" tall/long

Pittsburgh, PA(Zone 6a)

This guy was just sitting perfectly still on my garden walk. It didn't budge even when I snapped a few pictures. I'm hoping it will eat whatever is munching on my echinacea flower buds.

I looked through pages & pages of the Bug Files, but didn't see anything that looked like this.

Thanks in advance,
Cheryl

Another shot, but a little fuzzier. Notice the black bands on it's legs.

I think it's one of these Robber Flies. They eat other insects

That would be it! Thanks, claypa.

Diogmites neoternatus, to be exact. Looks like one of the things it eats are aphids...yay!
