I noticed that some leaves were dropping and went in for a closer look. Not at all happy with what I found of course. Does anyone have any treatment suggestions? Also, does anyone know what this plant is called? Thanks a MILLION in advance, Jode.

I think it's scale on a Euonymus. I hope someone else can confirm tho. I think you'll be wanting to prune off the worst parts, spray with something, and clean up any debris underneath too.

Sally, you are devine!

A little digging armed with my new term "Euonymus" that you gave me has turned up (1) Yes, this is definately what my shrub is - I just gotta figure out which kind it is LOL and (2) it even has it's own scale! (From the Bug Files - Euonymous scale:Unaspis euonymi). Now if I can just find the best treatment method to rid these little pests.

Thank you so much for helping me save my front yard!

I have a long hedge of thirty year old evergreen Euonymus. Don't know the name, but it sounds like Manhattan in my thirty year old horticulture book.
Some people have a terrible time with this scale. I've had it but not lately. I do try to rake out the debris underneath the hedge every year, because I read that advice. I also do not shear it, they way my neighbor does, who has scale problems. Yours don't look sheared either.
Hopefully you can find a treatment to knock them down. Good luck and you're welcome!
