CLOSED: Fuzzy White Critter?

Newburgh, IN(Zone 6a)

Went out to shoot a picture of the mystery plant growing in my creek and a little fuzzy white cat was on board. Any ideas?

Closer view. It may have some sort of parasite on it too.

Close as I could zoom.

It kind of looks like a Tussock moth, but I can't really tell.

MsMaati ..

It is a lil difficult to 'see' .. not sure if perhaps your camera flash may've brightened him up a bit much, or what. (heehee)

And yes ma'am .. he sure looks to be pretty heavily parasitized.

I agree with fly_girl .. it certainly does look like one of the many Tussock moths.

I'm not anywhere near close to being partially sure (LOL) .. but, I'd be willing to dole out a totally UNeducated approximated guesstimate in the direction of thankin' that it jes mite could be the Sycamore Tussock Moth (Halysidota harrisii).

I believe I can make out some yellow 'lashes' in your photo/s that are associated to the Sycamore Tussock. Also, these guys can vary in coloration: yellow, light brown, white, etc.

Take a look, and see if ya think this'un looks like (he) coulda been the 'white' critter on the leaf of that mystery plant of yours. Here > http://bugguide.net/node/view/423
And this image, is one where the caterpillar is hosting the eggs of a parasitic wasps aso! > http://bugguide.net/node/view/24931

Also, take a look at some of the other Tussocks - here > http://bugguide.net/index.php?q=search&keys=Tussock+Moth+caterpillar
* There's quite a few images that will load ..

Please try to overlook my ol goober silliness ..

Magpye, Yup you are right. That sure is it. It was white as snow except for the little tufts. The area it was in is directly under our big sycamore tree. Go figure. Thanks

Good call Magpye! It does look like the poor little guy has parasitoids.
