what does stratification mean?
with respect to delphinium seeds what does stratification ?
thank you:)
You can store your seeds in the refrigerator in plastic bags, then when you are ready to plant, they have already been thru their cold spell. It extends the life of the seeds as well.
There may be some seeds that the cold would not be good for, sage, I've read, if there are other's I'd be interested to know.
Thanks!
A common mistake with delphiniums is to assume just cold storage of the seed is the same as stratification. They need the moisture & the cold at the same time to germinate, so they're really not ready to go after they've been stored in their seed packet in the fridge. They need the moist soil while they're cold. :)
Works for daylilies from personal experience and for others from what I have read online.
