This bee is certainly different from the yellowjackets around and all the other insects stayed away from it. What kind of bee is this?

It's definitely a paper wasp. Probably this one, the Northern Paper Wasp, Polistes fuscatus

Looks like it, they are bigger than yellowjackets right?
On average, yes, by a few millimeters from what I'm reading - about an inch long. Very common near houses.
