I have recently started collecting plumies in the past few months and am now up to 36! Just wanted to share some blooms and my collection. (Clare, how close am I to catching up to you!)
Meet Elizabeth, I picked this one up at Home Depot, read the tag, it's called Elizabeth (one of my dd's name) and it's red (she has red hair!.) Look at the size of this bloom.
wanted to share
Very nice Louise.
Clare notice in the picture above, the plumie in the painted pot, that's the one you helped me save...sorry about the blur.
Ok, that's my sharing for today, when others bloom, I'll post those too.
Awesome collection there, Louise! Sweet bloom too. Kathleen brought you a great-looking plumie. If it is the same 'California Sunset' that I've seen before, it is a gorgeous bloom and looks very similar to Penang Peach. In fact, some have said that it may be 'Penang Peach.'
Louise - what pretties!!! You've done good!!! On a side note the Cannas you sent last year are doing wonderful - thank you again!!
Yea, Chantell, so good to hear from you and that the cannas are doing wonderful. It's always nice to know that what you've sent someone thrives well. Thanks for letting me know.
My collection is increasing rapidly, got rid of some cactus to make room but still have a few that are spoken for. I cannot wait for the bulk of the plumies to be blooming at the same time, maybe I should move them under my office window instead of under dd's window!
Thanks all for looking at my new babies, I'm like a new mama, gotta go water the babies now...as always Clare, your help is appreciated more than you know.
I have a tag with a photo on the plumie Kathleen brought me, I'll try to scan it and post here if I can.
That is so sweet of you to say that, Louise! Your friendship and Chantell's friendship both mean a great deal to me;-)
Clare - your kind words made my day!!! At the rate my plumies are going, I'll need to live through pics of ya'lls...oh well...gardening requires patience eh?
Lousie - "rid of cactus?" Make me twitch!! LOL
Chantell, you want cactus???
I, like, Chantell, treasure my friendship with you Clare, those were very special words.
Someday we'll meet, it's not like we live so far away from each other, it's just me getting your way, and you getting my way, but when I get your way, I'll be sure and let you know so I can stop by.
And I'll just hollar REALLY loud from the east coast...ok? Oh Louise, don't kill me, but I love my cactus even more then the Plumies...not sure why...but I do. Thing is that by now I'm a picky butt about them - hard to find ones that I don't already have...LOL I even have a little outsite cactus patch in my front yard. You KNOW the looks I get - attempting that in VA!! LOL Here's a couple of the beautiful blooms the outside ones blessed me with this spring...hope you don't mind mine posting them here....
I do not mind at all Chantell, I have some here if you want them. I just can't get them to bloom like yours. Yes I'm sure you get some strange looks! I just seem to like plumies better I guess. Ok for lack of a better word, I need to get rid of these cactus and if you want, they are yours.
Thanks, Louise and Chantell, for the kind words. You guys are so great!
Louise, that would be great if you could stop by one day when you are out this way.
Chantell, those pictures are so beautiful, and the colors are so vibrant. I can see why you love them so much;-)
You got a date Clare. If I ever get that way again, will definitely let you know. That would be so great to meet you. You are the best.
Yes, their colors are amazing...would be twice as nice if they had scent like the plumies but I'll settle for the eye candy with them. :)
Gosh Chantell! The blooms from your cactus collection are fab!!! I love the first one... got that peachy thing going on!
Karen
Ah thanks, Karen!! It's amazing to me the size of the blooms...each of those was at least the size of my entire hand if not bigger. Nature is awesome, for sure!!
Please take the rest of Weegy's cactus, Chantell! I took as much as I could - and was thankful for them - but she gets that little "please.." look on her face and I can't take it. :-) She really, really wants/needs room for her plumerias.
Now, if I could get those cacti to bloom like yours, I would be even more pleased!
Clare, why don't you try to make it to the get-together this fall at TwinLakesChef's in OC? Not to mention the round-up at Don's next year - that's worth an overnighter if you can do it. We'd all love to meet you.
Kathleen
Oh definitely Clare, sounds like an awesome idea..you can stay in my office, has a bed and a computer for you to check in on Dave's all night!
LOL, Kathleen!!!! I didn't realize I had a "please" look on my face but it worked with you! Thanks for the extra room for plumies!
Chantell, you can have whatever you want, I have a couple that are spoken for but can give you nice cuttings, don't know what they are, I'll have to inquire for you or like I told you, I'll send pictures. If my cactus bloomed like yours, I probably wouldn't be getting rid of them. "Rid" I said it again!
Just kidding Weegy. It's kinda like that look you would give your mom when you really wanted to have that ice cream, but you knew you weren't supposed to beg! lol
I just said, "gimme it" and grabbed it out of her hand! I was a bad, bad kid! I'm a little better now that I've grown up! I just say that when I see a plumie I want!

This question probably should be asked some other place but maybe someone will answer. I am in zone 8a, will plumenias grow here. I'm 35 miles from Tallahassee, Fla. Thank you. Elaine
Great pics, Louise! What a nice collection :-)
Thanks Karen! I do love my plumies! (I know, you can't tell!)
You guys crack me up! That is such a nice offer. I would love to meet you all too. Louise, I had to laugh at your offer for your office with a computer where I could check in at Dave's all night! You are so funny! Thank you for your thoughtfulness. Truthfully, I can't stand to be in a car for very long due to my back pain, and I also have an old disabled dog at home who can't be alone ever so it makes traveling difficult right now, but that won't always be the case.
Elaine, since you are in Zone 8b and since plumies are hardy to Zone 10, you can grow them in containers, but you will need to protect them from frost and freezing temps in the winter by bring them inside to your house, greenhouse, or garage.
Well Clare, if your back feels better when the RU or potluck comes around, the offer is always open...I was serious about the bedroom with the computer, it's all yours and the computer is yours all night, just tell me how my forums are doing in the morning!
Oh, and you can bring your dog, we have 3 dogs! Have I snagged you yet?!?!?
Well, when you are able to travel sometime, Weegy's dogs are as sweet as can be.
Awwwww, Clare he's so sweet.
Thanks Kathleen, they are a pain in the you know what when I have people over, they want to be right there staring at you with their hungry (yeah right) eyes.
Ok, Clare I've tried everything to get you here, when you're ready, I'm here. Oh, wait, I know, you can bring all your plumies too, will that do it?!!?!?!?!?
You're shameless, woman! Your dogs are as cute as can be and were no trouble at all.
ROTFLOL - just teasin'...Louise if you can dmail some pics to me, I can see if I have them already...please and thank you.
What a great photo Chantell, you can certainly bring them all! I will get pics of the cactus for you also.
Yes Kathleen, shameless is my middle name!
Beautiful dogs, Chantell.
Thank you...they're my babies - mercy, they certainly act like it!! :) I thought shameless was MY middle name with all the plant begging i do....LOL
