When buying lily bulbs and arranging them to look their best in your garden, what is your opinion as to what looks best. Should I buy 3 of the same variety and then 3 more of another variety and plant them with other plants or just buy 1 each of all of my favorites and come what may? You know how some plants look better if they are planted in 3's?.
How about starting a new bed. What is a good combination of perenniels to plant with lilies. Right now I have just tucked in a lily here and a lily there in amongst my already existing perenniel beds.

I order two to three at a time. Sometimes the blubs don't grow. Order from respected companies. I've recently just learned of some great places to purchase blubs just from reading the forums. As to where to plant them its up to you. I have planted mine in groups of type. I think lilies work anywhere. Remember orientals have a beautiful scent - asiatics have beauty but no scent. I've just started to get into the species lilies and some of them can grow to 5' - 7'. You will get wonderful information from alot of people on this site, who been growing all kinds of lilies for years.
