This is the first flower from a large plant grown from seed given to me as "JMG mix" from an MG fan on GW.
What do I have here?
Well, not really, lol, but thanks for the support :) Isn't anything but a bunch of petals all crammed in together.
I think that is cool looking. I wonder if the other blooms from it will look the same?
I know I wonder, too. This being the first flower it surely can't be a fluke can it? I'm gonna have to buckle down and try my hand at hand pollinating and do some crosses and self pollinating maybe. Nancy you could come help! What stinks is I have very few that have even started flowering and maybe none that will be opening today or tomorrow, maybe my blue picotee.
Yes, I'm waiting patiently (not), I have my camera out, we'll see!
It looks neat. I like it and think it is cool. Keep an eye on it and take more pictures!
Thanks Karen. I'll be keeping an eye on it- I do hope the flowers develop larger petals as the plant matures. I'll be taking pics. So far this morning it does not seem to be opneing. The sun is on it now and those tiny petals will be toast very soon. I tried to go ahead and see if I could get a pic of it's insides.
It's an Ipomoea purpurea reddish colored hige...the pistil looks prematurely senesced and the anthers are immature...the flower petals are certainly doubled(possibly tripled) and although incompletely developed the blooms will likely open up more as the flushes continue...
Let's see how it continues to develop...
TTY,...
Ron
