Latitude and longitude info for Frank

Frank wanted to compare growing seasons per this info, so I am starting a thread with my info. If you could all let him know where you are, exactly, he would have the data he needs.

Thanks you guys, even in Africa Elsa. The same rules about geography apply there even if we don't know any real zone information for africa. If we could get enough of this information together for the people on this thread we could do a survey to find out where the line is for various questions.

If we had 50 people here from all over, we could put all of us on a list , on a north and south axis. Then post a brief survey, of maybe 15 questions for all to answer.

Questions like "do you get ripe seeds where you live if you direct sow Nhil"? When do you sow in your area.

This could be fun as well as very informational. Think of it, a Morning glory Zone map for species. lol Frank

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Frank that sounds pretty interesting. I would participate if I can.

Where do we find the elevation?

(Judith) Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Try http://www.wunderground.com for your zip code.

elevation: 1,099 ft

Ronnie, you are by my guestimation, you are close to 200 miles nearly due south of Thregardeners. You are close to 100 miles south of Lake Erie. I wil give everyone til Sunday night to get signed up and then I will finish making a list.

I find it interesting that Detroit Michigan is at 42 degrees as is the northern border of California. The Canadian border at its most southern point, is south of the Norther border of California.

I am using Encarta atlas 96 and Delorme Topo USA, to get grid information. Delorme is only the US, Encarta is the whole Earth.

This could be some fun for us. Frank

So what's the game plan for all of this? What next? I'm really curious!

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

It would be interesting if we all shared data like our first nil bloom, first purpurea bloom, first indica bloom....etc.

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Here I am..
Latitude: N 42.43094

Becky, next we will develop a list of questions that pertain to the latitude and zones. Right now I am resting up from My gorgeous daughter's wedding this weekend. The wedding was over the top, and beyond. Please no faq type questions! Question suggestions should be of the quality that they answer more than one question and so on.
This is for fun and enjoyment, and information sharing, and to save some money on seed buying. Frank

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

So do tell .... are we gonna do a seed swap? Maybe???? :-)

Clatskanie, OR(Zone 9b)

It isn't quit time for a seed swap yet. Those of us further north have just gotten started with a blooming season. It would be fun to do a seed swap within the specie groups that do well in the zones. This should provide some information for those who don't want to waste their money on seeds they will have litttle luck with. Frank

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Wedding pictures please!!☺

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Beautiful family you have there Frank!! Congrats!! ♥

Clatskanie, OR(Zone 9b)

Thank you for the compliments ladies. In dealing with the raw pictures I took (raw is the highest resolution setting for my camera), I tried out Picasa. It is a photo library sight from google. It handled the highest resolution pictures, and even has correcting tools to help handle the the extreme contrast of bright sun and shade. It might be worth a look for you.

I am working on a survey to post for us, so we can get an idea of how many mgs we can grow where we live. I will be posting it soon. Frank

Touching photo, Frank! When they are little you can't wait for them to grow, but when they are grown .... you wish they were once again young and still innocent children. Ah ..... such is life! :-)
