Morning Glories 2007 # 09

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

I thought this would be something different to start the new thread. This one is a split petal flower on a small 3-4 foot vine with little nose shaped leaves on it. This was one of the morning glory festival sample seeds. Karen

I couldn`t resist a very off topic picture of our new little dumpling bobtail kitten named Allie. Her mother is our bobtail named Amber.

And back on topic with a F1 cross between a chocolate flower and the pink blizzard in the F2 growout the group is doing right now. I like how this one appears frosted toward the edges and even the leaves have a lightened green which adds to the affect.

This is one of the first few flowers of Berry Ice showing the beginning light picotee markings on the edges.

Is bobtail a dominant or recessive trait?

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

The American bobtail has the dominant trait for the short tail like the Manx. I think the Japanese bobtail is different and they are not related to the American bobtail.

Mesilla Park, NM

I want that blue one and the bobtail one.. just too cute.. We have a hobo cat that we brought with us from CA, here he is yesterday looking at the MGs from the window.. meet Hobo Joe

By the way, will up load photos later, had to make DH a birthday cake and dinner....

My Rosita from yesterday. Good thing I've got this one, I don't have any other's
blooming in the pink spectrum right now. Will have a hot pink and a very pale pink from the Sunrise Mxd pkt plus an unknown from that pkt.
I feel so pink deprived. lol

Patootie,

I like your pink spoked flower. I like the defined white markings...nice! Hobo appears to be quite at home there and he is handsome too.

This is another of the pink one.

Here is a group from the Yohaku mix.

I came to edit this to mention that the package of seeds said they were Yohaku but they are actually Mt fuji mix.

I came back to edit again:

After growing these again I notice the blooms are larger than Mt Fuji but the blooms toward the end of a untrimmed vine get smaller normally so the picture is misleading. This might very well be Yohaku and the seed pack said that is what they were.

I have a question. Is this one candy stripe purple? The reason I ask is this one started out as a sickly "dwarf" "speckly" ...because I didn`t know any better at the time. I collected two healthy seeds last fall and then planted and here grows this big beautiful plant with oval leaves and some cicada leaves and then the blizzard flower that shades to almost white on some flowers.

I have a second vine from a special mix fro komeri that is indistiguishable from this vine down to the blue watercolored stripe on some of the flowers. So I know this is something that is a variety with a name.

Any ideas?

Karen, thanks. I love all your blooms but the pink is sumptuous. All I've had
so far is Blue Star of India, Hatsu Arashi, the wild nil and Rosita. My
Sunrise Serenade get eaten up by mites every yr. This yr is no exception.
They attract more bugs than any m glory I grow. Now the cut worms have arrived or some type of worm, tiny and eating huge holes in my lvs. Oh Bother!!

Beth, Wow that blue flower looks huge. That one is nice!

I love the Rosita, I wonder when mine will bloom.....

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Beth, love the large purple. Edited to add that my Rosita was started on 4-26-07, so
it took a while. All my glory's have been on the covered front porch for more than a month.
No sun ever touches it or the Rosita's might have bloomed sooner. I'm trying to
protect them from the comstant downpours.

Is that blue or purple in person?

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

That one really is purple. I know the camera can fudge on the colors. Here is the mutant that is more of a rosy color.
