Looks like Pink Rambler to me. It will self pollinate.

Funny thing is i have a list of all the seeds people sent me and i don't think pink rambler was one of them... but i figured that might be the case so as they flower i'll ask for them to be ID'd. That way i'll know who is who!

Did you grow any Crimson Rambler? Pink Rambler is just a dilute Crimson Rambler. Or maybe it came in a mix.

Hi Beth,
This is the list i grew this year. Stupidly i numbered some of the ones i grew but that doesnt make sense now so ignore the numbers.
Most of these are from trades. So never sure what they may have breed with or what.

I don't see pink rambler in your list, but the purpureas are notorious for easily cross pollinating. Here 's the plantfile link:

I got blooms that Ron said resembled Crimson Rambler from a packet of commercial Scarlett O'Hara seeds. Definitely not a mix up on my part; I hadn't bought any Crimson Rambler...

I guess I should send you some Ipomoea aquatica seeds, Mike!

Un named.... ah poor fella.... i shall name him Fred then! lol
So thats still not one of the ones i listed.

So how do you guys that grow lots of different ones make sure you get the right seed next year?

Mike

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

I hand pollinate and tie or bag the blooms.

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

So if someone has hundreds of seeds their either very commited or not doing that!

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

No, actually you can grow just one variety in one part of your land and be 99% sure they will come true. I have ten acres and can seperate the varieties by a good distance. The seeds I keep are the ones I bag or are isolated. The others just all go in a coffee can. I don't know why I even save them.

Mike - Different species won't cross fertilize...

Sorry i kind of meant lots of varieties of purpurea all from there own garden..

Anyway i'm guessing by growing all the ones i listed in my back yard i am going to have to start hand pollinating!

Don't panic Ron your plants are no where near all these others!

Mike, Could that be Caprice?? I thought it was white with a pink star, but can't find a good picture when I searched.

Mike - The little orange one is most likely Ipomoea coccinea or possibly Ipomoea hederifolia...let's see what the seedpod pedicel does...

I'll keep you posted.
Notice none of these look very healthy due to the cold weather this year!
