CLOSED: teeny tiny white insect...

Avon, IN(Zone 5a)

ack!! We made a flower bed this spring in front of our concrete front porch, and topped it w/ beautiful red mulch (can't remember if it was cedar or pine). Yesterday I moved some of the mulch to add a geranium and under the mulch, on top of the garden fabric I noticed these tiny itsey bitsey white spots moving. Are these termites? is there something I can spray on the mulch to kill them w/o hurting my plants? Do I need to worry about my brand new house (can they get past the concrete porch to the wood?

Now I'm a little freaked, but my DH doesn't think we need to worry. Do you guys have any advice?
Thanks,
Gwen

Take a look at that link and see if you can find your creatures. Click on where it says "Termites (Isoptera)" a few times to see more termites. Not all termites are very destructive anyway. I wouldn't worry about killing them until you know what they are first. Any way you could post a picture? You probably thought of that, though

Also since you asked for advice, I would consider removing the 'landscaping fabric' or 'garden fabric' and replace it with newspaper. Sooner or later, most people regret using it. Roots get caught in it, eventually weeds grow anyway and their roots get trapped in it too. Also, I'm wondering if the termites or other insects can hide from predators under it, birds etc.
