There are a whole bunch of these guys that have turned up in our compost/worm bin. I don't want to kill them if they turn into a good bug, but don't want to let them thrive if they are a bad bug. Does anyone know what they are? We're in the San Diego area.
It looks like a Soldier Fly larva. One of these links mentions someone finding them in a worm bin too:
