Greetings All!!
I purchased a 6 - 8 ft. Amur Chokecherry tree this spring for my front yard. It's a lovely tree. In the last few days I've noticed some of the leaves turning yellow. On closer inspection, only one branch was showing yellow leaves. I noticed some sap at the base of the branch. That branch had the nursery tag on it. Once I removed the tag I found the damage seen in the photo.
My question is, what's the best way to deal with this? Is the branch worth saving and, if so, how. If not, when should I remove the branch and should I treat the wound with anything after cutting?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
