CLOSED: differential grasshopper?

Muncie, IN(Zone 5b)

i shot this mammoth (3") grasshopper amongst my fennel last year. it certainly looks like a differential grasshopper, but searching on the web i've found the maximum length get to 50mm (female), which is just shy of 2".

she (?) hung out for a few days and i never saw her eat anything...but it did 'freak out' my boys.

thx,

dino,
It certainly looks a perfect match to the Diggerential Grasshopper (Melanoplus differentialis): http://www.opsu.edu/UnivSchools/ScienceMathNurs/PlantsGrassh/grasshoppers/files/melanoplus_diff.html

but I also cannot find anywhere that gives a size greater than 50mm.

Perhaps feeding in your garden made all the difference?

shoooot, in florida we call that a baby! just kidding, but it certainly seems closer to the big lubbers we get here. i "tonged" a 4" one the other morning on my crinums.
