CLOSED: Non-biting midge, Chironomus plumosus?

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

The pic of Chironomus plumosus on wikipedia looks like mine, although there are supposed to be a lot of them this one seems to match.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chironomidae

Family Chironomidae we don't seem to have yet, unless I've got the wrong one!

This pic shows a blue one, maybe they come in multi-colours! I do have another smaller bluish one too!

This one is a good match,

Janet, it looks pretty right to me.

I have created an entry for it here: http://davesgarden.com/bf/go/4744/
to introduce the Chrisonomidae family and I have added the family to the index.

When you have added your images, I will select a picture for the index,

Ken

Thanks Ken, pictures are uploaded!

Thanks Janet, one of your images now illustrates the Chironomidae in the index,

Ken
