Dang it! Linda - I will call Extension tomorrow and get the answer if they have one!!! We were really busy with all the plant problems in the aftermath of these rains, and I totally forgot. Forgot to ask about a sample I took in, too.
Jeanne - You give me hope. I had Henryi, Nelly Moser, Duchess of Edinburgh and Jackmanii back in Oklahoma and loved them. But you are the only person I know that "grows" the hybrids here.... I grew them the same way there.
Yr. 3 Truly is Magical !!
CeeJay..I wished our nurseries would carry more clematis!!..I think they think they can't survive down here that is why I order so many online...Jeanne
Well, at least I wasn't alone in thinking that! How long have you had yours, Jeanne? And have you noticed if it is a particular type that does better here?
Ceejay..I moved into my new home about 5 years ago and have been growing clematis here for 4 years...I am growing Viticellas, the Hybrids and two Montanas....I am going to plant my first Atragene "Markham's Pink" ( macropetala) to try my hand at growing them in one of the most opened areas of my garden..I know they like as cold a spell as possible during winter and as you know ours isn't that cold..but hopefully out away exposed to whatever cold we may get..I am hoping it will flourish as beautiful for me as my Northern counterparts...For beginners I always suggest viticellas aka Pruning group 3's...also the "Florida's" love our climate...Hope this helps...Jeanne
Sure does! Thanks!
You are so welcomed...Jeanne
