I just received some last year and planted them. I just got green growth. I dug them out last year and put them in the garage. This year I planted them in a different place with a little more sun. One of them has bloomed so far, but not the rest. Just green on themtoo. I had forgotten about them and planted them late. My question is, do I have to take them up each year, or can I leave them in the ground? I am in zone 5a (Northwestern ILL.)
Question about Ismene Lilies
Hi Sue ~ I'm going to take a stab at it and guess that you are referring to Peruvian daffodils? http://davesgarden.com/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=ismene&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search
As you can see at the link, they're not hardy in our zones. Taking that into consideration, perhaps they'd be more likely to bloom with a longer season after coming out of dormancy ~ such as starting them indoors in the Spring.
Hopefully someone will come along with better advice. If not, try the Bulbs forum ~ lots of knowledgeable folks over there. :)
