i think this is an orchard spider (leucauge venusta)... about 1" span on legs, a webspinner, found on my garage.

...sorry for the 'soft' image, if this keeps up i'm gonna need a better camera.

Yes I agree it is the Orchard OrbWeaver (Leucauge venusta).

The only picture we have in BugFiles so far is of the underside of the spider, so will you please add your image tp this page: http://davesgarden.com/bf/go/553/
