Trying to remember what I had in a bucket out by the picket fence...
We went on vacation for a few days and my mom managed to kill all kinds of stuff but I found this when I came back...
Weird, found in the back...
very pretty whatever it is.
No, I don't think it is a heavenly blue. I don't recall that seed being in the mix back there. I know I had some picotee seed, and different purples like Ott, etc...and there have been no other blues coming up back there...odd. lol
Maybe a little birdie dropped it just for you, because he knew it would cheer you up from losing other plants while you were gone!
Maybe Ky! LOL
Yea, I was quite ticked....

looks like Ipomoea tricolor...
Could you post a view of the sepals at the outer base of the flower for a positive ID(?)...
This posting here has some reference photo links to check out to help with identifying the parts and species...

The flower and such is all dried up now,...do you still want a pic? I can get one. Thanks
GiddyMoon - A photo of the sepals at the outer base of the calyx (as shown in the photo links above) would provide a positive ID...but it's mainly for your reference...

GiddyMoon - The species appears to be Ipomoea tricolor...and Ipomoea tricolor is not known to cross inter-specifically with any other species...sepal identification is standard for species identification...
Hope that helps...

Yes Ron,
I know...but I don't remember what I have back there so no clue. These were among ssome that dried up while I was away and my mom was in charge of watering...I did have another one yesterday...hoping to figure it out. lol
If you want to post another closeup of the lower outside of the flower >I'll take another look at the sepals...
The sepals are how the most common species are identified...
The sepals you posted look glabrous(no hair) >but do look a bit 'hypertrophied' for the usual I.tricolor...I.hederacea,I.nil and I.purpurea are all hairy...
I'd be interested to see more closeups of flowerbuds and other identifying structures >e.g. seedpods if any are forming...

That one was tagged and no seed bud, no hairs and I think I have another one opening today. I did go back and find some unusual stuff..I am working on the pics now:)

clearly show the identifying structures of Ipomoea tricolor as the species of your plant...
Thanks for posting the additional clarifying photos...
