CLOSED: Black or Brown Widow?

Hi folks,

Does anyone out there know much about black or brown widow spiders? I had a couple of webs with spiders in them just outside my front door last night. They have the infamous red hourglass markings, and seem to have other characteristics of black widows (same kind of messy web, etc.) but they weren't quite as big, as black or as shiny. So after a little googling, I think they were probably either black widows that aren't quite mature or maybe brown widows. My question is, if they have the red hourglass, does that mean they are definitely some kind of widow spider? Are there other kinds of non-poisonous spiders that also have red hourglass marks? They really have me creeped out!
