Is this a dangerous wasp or a beneficial one? We have a ton of them, and they seem mean. They built a nest inside a birdhouse I have on my fence. Also, on the inside of an empty birdfeeder. My daughter has allergies, and I have heard horror stories about allergic reactions to wasp stings...

It looks like it is a Paper Wasp - possibly species exclamans

It might be my imagination - but I think this wasp was on my fennel rolling up a caterpillar into a ball and flying off with it... I couldn't get too close, but now I don't see the one I know I had on there. If that is the case I want to evict them! They are worse than ever this year...
