Now, there was a reason I wanted you to pay attention to those lamp lights. Here's that same river on July 1st. Just a reminder, Ottawa only had 8 inches of rain that day (Welda had 26! Yikes).
O/T The rains came down and the floods came up
By the way, thanks for posting, RainGazer. ; D It really is a good feeling knowing you all are so concerned. Makes me feel, I don't know...loved. *sending out warm fuzzies* lol
Want to hear about the flooded houses? The walls are getting torn out and the insulation and all...there's mud and worms in there...yuck. My husband looked like the abominable mudman today. lol! And then he had to go mow the lawn! LOL!!!
The Osawatomie exits are open-access now and I was passing by so I decided to stop (no camera). Boy, that town is REALLY stinky now. Smells like poo. There was a two-story apartment building you could see that had a mud line up to it's roof!! Crazy. And it's not completely dry, yet, some streets are still closed off because they're underwater (houses still have water in them, but not over their roofs). The National Guard pulled out, but the police were EVERYWHERE. I didn't get why at first, but then I realized to prevent looting (like there'd be anything to steal?!).
Unbelievable! My Heart goes out to all affected by those floods! I just can't imagine being in a situation like that!
thanks for all your good reporting, cjolene!!!!!!!
