June 29th Blooms

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

This is 'Zagora'. I bought it from a less than reputable source, so it could be something else, but isn't it nice? Wonderfully fragrant. The bulb wasn't too big, so I am surprised it flowered. Yay!

Such a pretty lily! ;) Keep them coming Mags!

If it's really that white, then it looks more like Silk Road to me. The outer margins on Zagora are a soft yellow. It's a beauty either way. :)

Here is Zagora from last year.

Yeah, I bought it on a whim from Menards, a home improvement place, in very early spring (not like me at all ;) . It's not as deep (or as gorgeous) as 'Silk Road', and it is a whole lot shorter, like 3 ft, this year. It's nice, but as I thought, not what ye old Dutch Box stated. But, when I bought it, I knew it would be a surprise.

LOL I do that once in a while ~ buy from a 'bad source' just to see what blooms. ('oooo, lookee there! I wonder what it is?') The one and only place that has never been wrong? My local hardware store!

Yes, I know what Menard's is ~ thought I'd excaped those #%&@ commercials when I moved from Minnesota. Then they opened one here. Groan.......

They always, always have bulbs super early, just when they know you are desperate enough to "spend big money at Menards" (insert jingle).....for surprise bulbs that are already leafing out in the box.
I'll never forget the year I bought my DH a ladder there for Christmas & that SONG kept playing and what do you think happens when your 2 year old daughter leaves the store? You got it.... the song...playing over and over, only in a *much cuter voice*, not easy to keep a Christmas secret though. What a day that was!

This is 'After Eight'. I see it is not registered, but it looks similar to 'Stargazer' only somewhat lighter and quite a bit shorter. It's less than 2 feet. Last night as I was out watering (yes, it was after eight ;) ) and this lily just seemed to glow. It's a great, I mean GREAT addition to the evening atmosphere.

This is another one that lights up at night. It is chartreuse in color.
It's 'Golden Torch'

This one I bought a couple years ago from B & D Lilies. I think it was in the Trumpet Hood Series. Not sure which one it is, but I really like the coloring combo.

'Meriwether' from the Lily Garden.
Also to note, one thing I really enjoy is the colors of 'Tiger Babies' , paired with the orange coneflowers, in particular 'Sundown'. Blooming at the same time they really compliment each other nicely. The accidental beauty ;)
