Stargazers not up yet ? 6-27-07

Santa Barbara, CA(Zone 10a)

My asiatics are up, my tigers are up, my orienpets and LAs are up, but no stargazers. I have seen a couple of them when I planted earlier this spring, and they looked fine but had no growth. Do they die after blooming and leave immature bulbs that are not big enough to bloom or do they just get bigger and bloom year after year. I planted them last spring and they came up fine. I'm stumped!

I planted one stargazer last year that someone gave me. It died down, so I figured it was dead. This spring I planted another plant where it was.

Last week, I was looking at the new plant, and guess what I saw? YEP, there it was, growing 3 inches from the other plant. So, don't give up, just yet. : )

Hmmm, I understand that some orientals like to sulk. I have several that are sulking (I hope) and not dead.

Hi all, new to the boards...First post! I woke up Monday to find one of my Stargazers peeking in the kitchen window at me while mainlining my first cup of coffee. I think this one bloomed earlier than my others because it is not only close to the house but gets reflected light from the window it's in front of.

gaqrdenerme,
sometimes voles (field mice) like to eat our lily bulbs. one winter voles ate over 150 to 200 of mine. i was devastated that spring when i finally figures it out through folks here at dave's.
if drainage etc is ok, you might consider this. i hope not though. have you had moles? voles like to go along there paths too. also, if you see any small holes about the garden is a sign.
good luck, i hope they return.

Thanks but not voles. The bulbs are in the ground, just not sending up any shoots. what is normal bloom time.
