It's about time too! It only took him 15 months, but my little guy, Joe, walked for the first time last night! Oh and didn't he think he was soooooo clever too!

Heh heh....now I can really put him to work in the garden!

Bucky,

Congratulations!! My daughter took 16 months to walk. I really think it is partly her personality. She won't do anything until she is certain she can do it.

What a huge milestone- I'm sure you are tickled pink!!!!

Bucky how lovely!! I know how elated you feel! The 'first' milestone!!! I remember, as others do, my own children at this stage. In particular my son. We were in Cyprus at the time and it was a really hot day (no a/c of course). He was 13 months and had not shown any inclination to start walking but walk he did and we couldn't get him to stop. He just kept walking and giggling, so proud of himself he was. When we all started to perspire I had to bring a halt to the drama and we all went and sat in a cold bath....lol!! Even then he wouldn't sit down!!

Awwww, thanks for sharing that precious, exciting moment. How quickly those early milestones slip by.....my "baby" will be six in a week. Her brothers just turned 16 and 13 - where has the time gone?????

Well, it looks like we have another gardener in the making! Congrats to baby Joe and his proud parents!

Thanks all!!! I love hearing about your baby "firsts" stories!

Actually Joe has already been helping out in the garden this year. I put him to work picking green beans. I'd park him on his tush in between the rows and he'd pick them beans like a pro! Of course, he chewed on quite a few of them....

And some of his first words were flower (prounounced "fauer") and plant ("pant")....

Anyone else have gardening babies?

My dd Megan was slow to walk as well, Now that she is 21 months old we are still waiting for her to say more than a grunt or hand movements.
She just dosen't want to talk much maybe because big sister (age 6)can't shut up.LOL
Mike

I have a two year old (two on the 13th, actually). She still has this strange secret language, and we don't know what she's saying, but she's definitely carrying on a conversation! She's also starting to speak English now, too! lol! Finally!

One of my boys was a late walker, too. They get up and do it eventually! I was told by someone that children with siblings, like my late walking boy, usually walk earlier because they see the other sibs doing it. Wrong! My boy took his sweet time! I think he was a 15 month baby, too.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww I remember when. Thanks for sharing your excietment with us. Love those memories. My kids were both baby gardeners. Only problem was at weeding time. In the spring it was great just told them to pick the big ones and leave the little ones alone. The trouble came later when the plants were the big ones. Lost alot of plants for a few years there.
Now at 17 & 14 they don't have much time to garden as they use to but it is funny you can always tell when they have a problem they head right to the garden to pull weeds and think it thru.

My oldest son started walking at 7 months ( I swear!) and at 8 months old he got a cast put on due to a curved foot. Within a couple of days he was walking around again. I didnt realize how young that really was until years later I was looking at a picture of him ( had a camera that recorded the date) My second son didnt walk until 14 months.
Funny that the oldest is the more determined to accomplish what he wants and dosent mind working towards that goal. The second son wants for something but if he cant get it within 5 minutes then he goes onto something a little more within reach.
Congratulations and (((((GOOD LUCK))))))) :)
Janice
