Hi,
Just wondering if anybody else is making lily crosses this year? I have about 64 to date, though quite a few are reciprocal. Will be interesting to see what happens. I am using a lot of Tinkerbell and Viva.
Help I am addicted :*)

Crosses for 2007
Hi Andy,
I don't have near as many crosses going as you do, but I also am dabbing pollen this year. I know that several of my crosses have taken because I have upturned and swelling ovaries. One seedling I have is playing an important part in my program. I need to go count and log my crosses in case the tags blow off like they did last year.
llilyfan I doubt I will make this many next year. This year I am shamelessly spreading pollen around to see what takes. The swelling pods are a good starting sign, though what I learned last year is, don't count your seeds until the seed pod is hatched :*) It will be an interesting Fall to see what develops!
Are you doing just asiatics or some more difficult crosses such as LA,OT etc?
Andy
Andy, I'm so glad that this year's challenges haven't thwarted your enthusiasm!
Andy,
I am basically staying with the asiatics, though I did stray into the unknown by doing a few interspecies crosses. Nothing took the last time I tried this and I am still not set up for embryo rescue and such.
Yes, I am aware not to count my crosses before having seed and viable seed at that, I just tend to get real hopeful when I see those pods starting to swell.....
The babies who went in the ground last fall were froze to the soil and below in that April freeze we had, I hope to see a couple of them next year because a few have sent up some green leaves after that assault on their stems.
