Ya'll, I'm quickly finding that bidding on eBay can be addictive. I cannot BELIEVE that I'm bidding AGAIN!!!!????? I mean, I couldn't help myself, really. I saw the plants and I wanted them and before I blinked, I was clicking the "Place Bid" button. Rats!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Thanks, Joanne, a cute tiny variegated girl. I've not seen that one before.
Hi Snowrose,
It is a Canadian Hybrid...I have three or four from this hybridizer.
It is a very cute plant and I have had it I think about seven years or so. I got it from Alannah's when she was still running Alannah's Greenhouse. It has to be hardy because I used to always forget to water it. I have them both wicked in Dandy Pots now.
Thanks,
Joanne
You must like it very much, Joanne, to keep growing it for seven years. Good for you. It's a cutie. Yes, I am familiar with A.E.Adams. I've grown a few of that hybridizer's plants. Wicking is the ticket when you grow as many plants as I know you do.
I'm trying to catch up on this forum... That AV did go pretty high, even for eBay.... but have you seen the prices on some of the newer daylilies, for example? If you want to watch some fun bidding wars, check out the lily auction. But beware... this site can also be addictive... I bought some seeds last winter and really had to restrain myself from bidding repeatedly on some that I thought were beauties but were going for more than I was really willing to pay in a more rational moment, LOL. I know Westocast73 posted something about DLs, so of course I had to mention the lily auction site. You can get good deals there too... I lucked into Rainbow Hill's $1 fan sale last year, too bad he's not doing it again!
So, for those of you with sunny outdoor garden beds.... http://www.lilyauction.com/ (I'm such a fine enabler!)
Westo, I'm glad you posted here... looking forward to seeing photos and hearing more about your AVs & gessies!
Hey critter,
Unfortunately right now there won't be any photo's. My Canon S2 IS died about a month ago and Canon customer service was an absolute joke so right now I am cameraless. I am trying to find a smaller point and shoot to buy but so far havent decided although am leaning towards the Fuji F series as they now have a 3 year warranty in Canada and I have had good experiences with Fuji in the past. Most of the sunflower pictures I have uploaded here were on an older Fuji Camera.
I have a few daylilies. I think you were in chat when I was talking to Badseed about them. I live in Canada however so most of the good fun sites aren't very useful for me.
The AV went very high. You are right though that there are plenty of Daylilies out there that top the price by a long shot. I think most of us on these forums are not in the market for the very expensive stuff but it is still fun to see them.
Yes! I knew your "name" was familiar, but I couldn't place you from the forums I frequent... the chat room... of course!
I've lost track of what plant material is OK to ship to Canada these days and what is restricted (or priced out of range by the necessity of getting phytosanitary certificates).... can you not even indulge in seeds from the lily auction? What a shame!
I'll try to wait patiently for you to get a new camera and start posting photos again!
:-)
