Red Bird of Paradise, Dwarf Poinciana, Pride of Barbados, Peacock Flower, flambo

I know you posted this photo 4 years ago, but there is one of these plants growing next to my neighbor's house. The only difference from this plant shown here and the one next to my neighbor's house is the color of the bloom. The color of the blooms on the plant, near my neighbor, are more 'orange' in appearance. My neighbor had given me a small branch off this bush and I decided to play around with it taking some photos.

I'm attaching a photo that I took of one of the little blooms that had fallen off the branch. I had placed the bloom on a piece of solid black foam board and angled a bit downwards at it. This little bloom has the same long stamens protruding from the center. I think my neighbor had said it was called "lady's slipper" but can't be certain. Next time I see him, I'll ask him again what he said it was called.

If you click on the link above, and then click on the species name, it gives you more listings for this particular plant, including the one you are probably looking for. it's the original species and the pink one is a cultivated hybrid from it. :-) Pretty plants!!

Hi there Calif_Sue!

I just checked out the link and found some other varieties that match the same color of flower in my photo above. Now I know what the name is and can put the info in with the photo in my photo folder on my computer. Thanks again!

Jennie
