CLOSED: Any ideas what made this?

Blythewood, SC

We were gone on vacation for the past five days, and upon return I found this out in our back yard.

It's probably a half inch across (the hole) and it looks like all the sand/dirt was shoved out on one side. From a distance it looks like a new fire ant hole, but I've never seen one like this. It's not really mounded up or anything.

Any ideas? I have an 8 month old and a 2 year old. Could this be something that would be dangerous to them?

Thanks in advance!

Only if they're allergic to bees. Pretty sure it's a Cicada Killer Wasp nest. They are huge and scary looking but they are not known to attack people. They eat Cicadas. Yellow Jackets definitely scare me more than these wasps.
