chinese pistache is yellowing

Rio Rancho, NM

I have 3 young chinese pistache trees that I planted in my backyard last August. This year, they seem to have yellowed with spots of brown/rust on the leaves. I don't know if this is from too much water or from poor soil conditions. Anyone have any ideas? I am in Rio Rancho, NM, zone 7A. This is a very common tree here, but the ones I see in commercial landscaping are dark green. Thanks so much to anyone who can guide me!! Ty

Not sure what your problem might be Ty. I know there are two a male and a female planted on the main street of the place I park my car. Every year the female turns yellow and browns and just plain looks terrible til the late fall and early spring , whiel the male always looks great and they are the same size, planted at the same time. Wonder if coudl just be a trait in the tree.

Maybe somebody els e might have some other answer.

Thanks Star. How can I tell if my trees are male or female? I really appreciate your reply. Thanks again. Anyone else have ideas or know more about the male/female differences?

Thanks, Ty
