Suggestions for cascading color?

Connie, wow, you are getting great ideas from everybody. I just want to let you know I found some dwarf plumbagos at Lowes. They are dark blue and suppose to only get only 12 inches high. Of course, I haven't seen them since I bought them 3 week ago. Maybe at a nursery they will have them. These plants haven't missed a beat since I have planted them. Have fun deciding on the right plant.

Mary and All...!

You are right...everyone is doing a great job here! I think the purslane (is this the same as portulaca?) is the ticket...IF I can get single-color flats! I'm going to check today!

Also...Dale....

Is that Ixora in the background of your pic of the portulaca? I had it last year (it froze in our 3 ice days in Jan...alas...)
I LOVE its color and compact shape! Anyone seen it for a good price yet? I saw it at either L or HD for about 10. I want to pay 5 or less for a fairly large one..

Portulaca and purslane are not the same plant, but they are both great for your spot. And ice plant would be also. BTW Anne, the ones you gave me are doing great. I put them in a pot with really good drainage and they are very happy. BTW purslane is edible and supposed to be good in salads.

Connie, I can't get portulaca to grow, but purslane does great for me. I don't know what I do wrong on the other one. They supposedly need similar conditions. Oh well, I love the purslane, so I don't have a problem.

Okay...I bought a flat of ...moss rose, the guy said...today. I think it's the same as portulaca....for those who suggested that. I'll plant it and take a pic tomorrow! Thanks to all!

Yep that's portulaca. There are some that make small flowers and some make bigger ones. Both are awsome.

This one cascades a bit. Has potential for takeover due to aggressive reseeding; however, 'Walker's Low' variety won't reseed as much as original plant.

Collin,

I do like the looks of the Persian Catmint, but I just bought Portulaca ('Margarite Rosita' mainly...some "mixed") and planted it today.

HOwever, I have had port. here before and it didn't live. The little plant info stick that came in one of the pots said "must not be overwatered" and since I"m a "waterer"....I probably killed them with love! :_)

Here's a pic for everyone who helped....I DO appreciate it!

I just noticed that the plant info stick reads:

Portulaca
F1 Hybrid

Anyone know what that means?
