I almost missed this one. It blends in well with the dried foliage. Anyone know the name?

This one could be a Great Blue Skimmer, Libellula vibrans. It looks like the tips of its wings have black edges with the black stigmas. Great pic!

You are finding so many....are you near a large pond?

Yes, I work at a park and they have a natural lake. It isn't very large but it is very clean water. There are many different plants, wildlife and insects no where else around here that are so abundant. I'm loving my job. Thank you fly_girl without you I'd be spending my nights looking through bug books.

You're very fortunate to see so many different kinds!

You still may want to spend some nights pouring through some books.....I don't know how accurate I am.......lol

Thanks for sharing the pics!

I just bought the book "the sounds of insects", it comes with a CD and it is filled with insect sounds. Haven't found a good dragonfly book yet. But looking.
