Tree rats! :*(

I thought I encountered it all, until I went out to check on my seedlings in my daily morning ritual. I had a very nice seedling with 6+ buds that was only a tiny seed 9 months ago. What did I find? All the buds were bitten off with some of the carcasses next to the seedling :*( Unless rabbits have taken to climbing on top of fencing, I can only accuse the tree rats. That is right folks, squirrels will bite and eat flowers off of your plants , AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGHHHHHH!

Anyone like squirrel meat?

Sorry I will try not to complain about, rabbits, squirrels, hail, insects anymore...

You may be cursing the tree rats (and all the other woes you've come upon), but I am marveling at what you accomplish in such short time. The way I grow things, a lily like that would take me 3 (or more) years!

When I saw all of those buds on a 9 month old seedling I couldn't help but to be excited, regardless of what the flowers might look like. I do feel somewhat deflated.
However,Rick you are correct, they have grown nicely. So the handful that were squirrelized will only be bigger next year :*) These seedlings grew quite well under 24hr lights for 4 to 5 months.

Ok I think I am feeling better.
