my bro found this today, any idea what caterpillar it is, poisonus etc....

I am not familiar with the caterpillars of the UK, but someone that is will surely be able to id it for you. But in the meantime, it does not eat those things you are trying to feed it. Put some of the same plant leaves that you found it on in the container, or it will surely die.

I don't know UK butterflies and cats either, but I'm making a guess of a Peacock, Inachis io. If that is it, the host plant would be Nettles and Hop, that will be the only plant it will eat.
