I planted my hoolyhock plants two years ago, and this year is the first year it is blooming. Do I need to save the seeds in order to have new plants for next year, or will they reseed themselves. If I need to save them, how do I go about saving the seeds. Thanks in advance.

Saving Old Fashion Barnyard Mix Hoolyhock Seeds
Ironsides, Most Hollyhocks reseed themselves. If you let them go to seed they will appear for years. You can always save seed and plant for a larger bed, or trading. Cyndie
Thanks Cyndie.............I thought taht s what they did but I have heard so many stories about having to savethe seeds. They are doing well. Thanks for answering me.

Ironsides, what colors did you get? I bought three Old Barnyards from Bluestone last year and have 1 pale yellow (I hate it) and one pink (It's only so-so). The 3rd one didn't bloom. I really wanted the maroon one, which would make me happier with both the pink and the pale yellow, I think. Would set them off.
I guess what I'm saying is, if you have maroon or brown, I'd like to do a seed trade with you.

Hi llloquin,
I have the maroon hollyhocks. This is the first year they are blooming. I plan on letting them go to seed this year, but drop me a reminder next year and we will do a trade once the plants are more mature.

Okay, thanks!
