any idea who this is?
CLOSED: Blue, Brown and Orange Butterfly
Looks like a Red-Spotted Purple, Limenitis arthemis, one of the Admirals. They are considered the same species as the White Admiral, because they blend when the species meet and produce many intermediates. Too much info? lol

it certainly was pretty... .caught my eye from the house since it was sitting on my white & blue beach towel.... i went and got my camera -- it did fly off once but circled back to the same spot.... i probably for 2.5 feet from it to get the better photos. you can even see the lil "tongue" rolling in and out - checking things out i imagine.
it was just slowing flapping it's wings... like it was stretching them for the first time.
the blue was a very pretty color blue - the image does not do it justice.
