For anyone who might be interested.
Lowe's in Bluffton has 50% off all their roses
i've never really had much success with roses. they are beautiful though? i guess they are just not my plant...
The mini's do really well with few disease problems and many get to 2' or 3'. You have to be careful buying them though. So many growers, especially those that grow for the big box stores, stick 4 or 5 cuttings in a pot to make it look full. I have had great difficulty keeping those multi plant pots alive and separating them is always a problem too. Also, the mini Red Cascade climber is a fantastic, disease free rose that repeat blooms many times throughout the year here.
This is Caldwells Pink which gets to be about 3' x 3' and is a non stop bloomer.
thats beautiful. i dont remember ever seeing a rose having that kind of shape before. very interesting it looks like a peony
Floribunda Roses seem to be the problem free for me. Basicly the more exotic your rose is the more care must be taken.
there is only one rose that i have really had success with. that was the 'knockout' hybrid tea trained as a tree form. i think it is single flowering one, maybe two sets of petals, but nothing like most hybrid teas w/ like 50 petals.
PS rose petals make great additions to salads. thet add a lot of color and a delicate flavor.
You sure about that? I've never seen rose petals used in food and I was in F+B for 20 years.
F+B whats that
but yeah cuz i was dumb enough to eat some! the tasted really perfumy! maybe some are bad to eat, but not the ones i tried. the rose was an important part of Roman food. i learned that in Latin 1 last yr
F+B is food and beverage. Covers Bars, hotels, resturants etc
I would be careful, it's like orchids or mushrooms. Some are edible, some will kill you.
ok well next time, ill think.... that was really dumb 4 me to do though...
